We're Done

Gee, this is sudden.

With the book more or less closed on Manitoba's 2010 civic election and most of the post-mortems complete, it seems like a good time to do something that's been lurking in the back of my mind for some time, and close down this corner of the inter-web.

Yes, at this point I realize I have become like the Brett Favre of the local blogosphere (minus the poorly considered voice mails/inappropriate pics) with my frequent interruptions of service, followed by an inevitable return behind the keyboard. But this time, it's permanent, and it's for real. And despite all the nice comments, emails, Facebook messages, etc., that you sent the last time I threatened to hang up my keyboard, I'm not changing my mind this time. I do appreciate the sentiments, and I'm glad my efforts mean what they do to some of you, but it's time for me to focus on other things. (And no, that doesn't include joining the rest of the local Twitter-ati: Endless Spin won't find new life as a microblog).

Thank you for reading this for the past five years. This has wildly exceeded my initially modest expectations, and I appreciate that so many of you care. Even if you hated what I had to say or vehemently disagreed, I respect the fact that we could engage in these discussions.

So with that, farewell, local blogosphere. Of course, I'll still be reading - and I encourage you to read the blogs listed in the sidebar, as they're excellent - and I'll still be engaged, but from the sidelines.

All the best,

Curtis

  1. Sorry to hear this. I think we need analysis of events and we're poorer for the loss of your thoughts on things.

  2. Curtis,

Well, I guess this time it is a done deal. Our local blog-o-sphere will be the poorer for it. Thanks for your efforts these past five years. This was always one of my favorite haunts - I always enjoyed the read and perspectives you offered up. A good place to visit - I'll miss it. I wish you well in whatever the future should bring.

  9. Rats! One of my top stops to keep up with Manitoba news. More and more of the good political blogs are packing up and closing shop, darn it all.

  10. So, is there any truth to the rumour that you're now a stringer for FoxNews North? Just kidding- really enjoyed the insight and wit. Best of luck with whatever is going to fill that space in your life that was Endless Spin.

  11. Was it something I said? It was something I said, wasn't it. Damn, I knew I shouldn't have said anything.

I hope you find your future hobbies just as rewarding.

  12. Sigh. You'll be missed. Excellent work over the past few years.

Please leave the site up, though! Your blogroll is an excellent source of tabs for my browser.

Also, who knows if you'll want to return, in the future. Best leave that door open ;)

  14. Thank you all for your kind words! They're very humbling. In the meantime, I will be leaving this up so people can still access the blogroll.

  15. Adios amigo. The amount of time needed to devote to this kind of endeavour is daunting indeed, and perfectly understandable, especially now that you have more responsibilities. As Grant said, you will be missed.
